Old Maps of the Major Battles of the Civil War
Of the many battles in the Civil War, we have chosen the fourteen that are considered the most important. They
range from the First Battle of Bull Run in Virginia in July 1861 to the bloody encounter between General Robert E.
Lee and General Ulysses S. Grant at the Spotsylvania court house in Virginia, in May, 1864.
We have selected two panoramic views of two of the States in which these battles occured: Virginia and
Tennessee. The others maps are detailed maps of the battles themselves, and contain positions and maneuverings of
the armies of both sides.
They are arranged in chronological order. These old maps are giclee prints on very high quality cotton rag
archival paper, with a selection of museum quality frames and mats. The prints are derived from images in the
archives of the Library of Congress.
Below are portions of the map of the battle of Stones River in Tennessee typical of the detailed appearance of
these prints.
